I’m thinking of doing swags on all of my exterior window sills, but I just found a source of all sizes of grapevine wreaths and now I’m thinking of decorating with grapevine and greens! Any ideas?

I have a historic victorian home, two stories with lots of windows and two front doors and a gingerbread front porch. I’m open to suggestions if you have any!

The grape vines will be great…leave out the greens add pinecones and crystal beads wind lighting through them. A light reflective netted bow in the center. Use the same garland around the door. Of course a single light in each window. Put 1/2 pillars outside the door arrange several LED tea lights at varied heights inside a clear disposable bar type drink cups You can get the LED flicker lights at a dollar store for a buck apiece. Affix 2 wreaths at the bottom of the stair rails one on each side. Line the walkway with more LED lights in cups (Turn the cups over on the walk and secure)

I have my mother’s estate to liquidate. With tough economic times, no antique dealers, auctioneers or estate liquidators are interested as they all seem to be looking for only the finest quality, high-end collectibles and antiques. I probably have some items that are worth more than the average tag sale would have (like Depression glass, pressed glass, decorative pottery like McCoy & Hull) but these things are not valuable enough to interest the dealers. A few months ago I even tried hiring an Ebay assistant to try and sell some of the stuff. She didn’t get one offer! So it looks like I’m stuck with trying to sell it on my own. I wanted some guidance in regard to what might be of interest to people that might stop at an estate sale so I don’t waste time and effort lugging out stuff that nobody will buy. My mother has not been on a real vacation in way to many years. When I mentioned I would go anywhere she wanted to go she mentioned Vermont because there was a place that makes old-fashioned soaps and other items. Need someone who is good with antique furniture.?

My boyfriends dad is selling this old looking desk. It looks like an antique writing desk which has a black stamped leather top with gold pressed emblems on it in a pattern. It also has peg legs with very tiny wheels at the bottom and on the front has three drawers, two deep ones on the sides and one shallow long one in the middle. The wood is I think was you would call “dove tailed” or it is fitted like a puzzle piece and is solid wood.

I haven’t yet been able to take a picture of it but I did find a similar one online. It looks almost exactly as the one in the link except for there is no barred decoration below them.

What I’m wondering is around when it could have been made? I did find a serial number stamped on the bottom and also an inspector stamp but nothing else. I know the website says circa 1890 but I’m not sure.

He is willing to sell it to me for $100, I’m not so much interested in the real value but more in the look of it, but I would like to know maybe an estimate to see if I’m getting a deal or not. The condition is OK, a few scratches on the top from use and you can tell that someone tried to paint the edges in gold, and also the right drawer was very sticky but upon switching it with the other, it’s a bit smoother.
